Disney and YouTube TV reached an agreement today that more than a dozen Disney-owned channels will return to Google’s Internet TV streaming service. Late last Friday the two parties announced that they had failed to reach an agreement before the contract expires, and users were told that they would no longer be able to access these channels, including ESPN, Disney, FX and other copyrighted programs owned by Disney.
Today, Disney said in a statement: We are pleased to announce that after a short interruption, we have reached a new distribution agreement with Google’s YouTube TV to continue to carry our network portfolio. We thank Google for achieving this. With the cooperation in compliance with the fair terms of the market, we are very pleased that our strong sports and news live broadcast lineup, as well as children, family and general entertainment programs are being restored to YouTube TV users across the country.
With the loss of channels, YouTube TV previously stated that it will lower the price by $15 to $49.99 per month. In a blog post about resuming service, YouTube TV said that it will revert to the original monthly service fee of $64.99, but it will provide a one-time compensation for all affected members. For those who have not yet received 15 on their monthly bills, Active members with USD discounts will automatically receive a one-time recharge of the system on the next bill without any action. YouTube TV says it has begun to recover access to their property on the Disney program service belongs, including local ABC TV station, which will be within a day to recover.
