The new download interface of Google Chrome browser appears for the first time

A few days ago, we reported that Google Browser is getting a new download interface to make it more consistent with the download experience provided by Microsoft Edge. Basically, the plan to be implemented includes moving the download information from the bottom of the browser (currently in the stable version of Chrome) to the browser toolbar, next to the global settings button.

It seems that Chrome users who are anxiously looking forward to this change need not wait too long, because Google has already begun to build and test this feature in Chrome Canary. As the sharp-eyed Redditor u/Leopeva64-2 discovered, the download information can now be seen on the toolbar of Chrome Canary.

As you can see, the download icon is blue (left) during an active download, and gray (right) when it is inactive. If you want to know why the icon being downloaded appears small compared to the other icons in the toolbar, it is because it may be surrounded by a progress ring, as we discussed in the previous article.

It remains to be seen how long it will take for Google to develop and test before launching a new download experience to stable channels. Implementing this UI change is obviously a work in progress, but if all goes well, we can expect it to arrive on time.
