Toyota plans to launch an automotive software platform in 2025 to compete with Volkswagen and Daimler

Japanese car manufacturer Toyota Motor Corporation plans to launch its own operating system by 2025, which will be able to handle advanced operations such as autonomous driving. From managing the engine and battery to supporting functions such as autonomous driving, entertainment and navigation, the software is playing an increasingly important role in cars.

Toyota’s software platform Arene will compete with German rivals Volkswagen and Daimler. Volkswagen is developing its own VW.OS operating system software and Daimler plans to launch its own Mercedes-Benz operating system on its cars by 2024.

According to reports, Toyota aims to install this operating system on its own cars by 2025, and plans to provide this system to Subaru and other subsidiaries in the future.

According to the report, Toyota is considering a licensing model to allow other electric or driverless car manufacturers and companies to also use Arene. Toyota did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
