Samsung Galaxy S22 series product details gradually take shape in leaks

A video from Unbox Therapy shows the three-body models of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S22 series phones, giving people a glimpse of the phone’s design in advance. Although the video has now been taken down, it was re-uploaded to other channels and a screenshot was taken by 9to5Google. The video appeared alongside other details of the upcoming phone, including camera specifications and pictures of a new 45W fast charger.

This is not the first time that a video of the Galaxy S22 model has been leaked online. OnLeaks, a leaker on Twitter, posted a similar video in the middle of last month. Unbox Therapy’s video seems to confirm these previous designs, and it also shows the phone more clearly.

The three phones shown in Unbox Therapy’s video are believed to be S22 Ultra, S22 Plus and the standard version S22, although these names may not be the final names. The design of the S22 and S22 Plus seems to be similar to last year’s S21 device, with a camera bump on the upper left corner of the back. Both models seem to have three-camera modules.

The recently leaked specification sheet indicates that the standard version of the S22 will have a more compact 6.1-inch display (for reference, the S21 is a 6.2-inch display). In comparison, the S22 Plus display is said to be 6.55 inches. Previous reports show that both will have at least a 50-megapixel main camera with different ultra-wide-angle and telephoto cameras.

Consistent with the leak last month, the S22 Ultra seems to have a very Galaxy Note-style design, with a square top and bottom, and a built-in S Pen stylus pen holder. There are no camera bumps around the four cameras of the phone. A leaked specification sheet shows that these cameras will include a 108-megapixel main sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle, a 10-megapixel 3x telephoto, and a 10-megapixel 10x periscope lens.

Interestingly, the spec sheet mentions that this 108-megapixel main sensor may have a lens made of “ultra-clear glass”, which seems to be a brand promotion for some kind of Gorilla Glass. In the supporting video leaked in the spec sheet, this new lens may be designed to reduce the small noise that may appear in the camera lens shot at night.

Finally, Roland Quandt of WinFuture shared a picture of what appears to be a fast charger for the S22 Ultra. It has a power of 45W and only has a USB-C charging port, which shows that compared to the 25W S21 Ultra, we may see an increase in charging speed ( Samsung previously provided 45W of charging power on the Note 10 Plus).

It is unclear when all these phones may be announced. Samsung launched the S21 series in mid-January last year, but usually choose to launch the previous product series in February. Given the continuing supply chain issues and global chip shortages, no one can guess when the S22 phone will eventually appear.
