The following is the changelog:

  • When logging into multiple work or school accounts on the device, you can choose to use the current profile to log in to the work or school website. In a multi-account usage scenario, the browser will prompt the user to select a specific account to continue accessing the website. In the Edge 97 version, when this feature is turned on, it will allow users to use the current profile account to automatically log in to the work and school website without switching the browser to the work or school account. Users can turn this feature on or off in Settings → Profile → User Configuration Preferences.
  • Add support for Microsoft’s Endpoint Data Loss Prevention (EDLP) DLP feature on the macOS version of the Edge browser.
  • Adaptive HTTPS: When enabled, users can upgrade their navigation from HTTP to HTTPS for more security features. It should be noted that this feature is temporarily pushed in grayscale, and users who have not received it will get it in the next Edge version.
  • Block WebSQL in third-party contexts: The new Edge browser will prevent third-party frameworks from using older versions of WebSQL. The WebSQL In Third-Party Context Enabled option was available prior to Edge browser v101. This change is based on the Chromium kernel used by the Edge browser, for details, see the corresponding entry for the Chrome platform.
  • The new Citation function: College students and researchers often need to cite the researcher’s reference materials or website articles when writing papers, and need to insert citations in the article according to a specific format. At present, the Microsoft Edge browser provides a new “Citation” function, which is temporarily a preview version.

Users can use the Alt+F shortcut key to open the settings on the web page, then select More Tools, and click Reference this to use this function. In the pop-up sidebar, you can edit the cited source, author, publication date, etc. The citation content can then be copied into the thesis editing page.

  • Control flow protection (CFG): The Microsoft Edge browser supports more granular protection by combating memory exploits and preventing indirect calls. CFG only supports Windows 8 or later, please read the following page for details: Click to open
  • Control-flow Enforcement Technology (CET) provides safety functions. When the “Enhanced Internet Security” option is enabled, the browser will turn on a safer browsing mode. This feature relies on hardware support and can be turned on by Intel 11th-generation Core processors and AMD Zen 3 architecture CPUs.

If you want to update to the Edge 97 stable version of the browser, open the browser settings and click “About Microsoft Edge” to perform automatic updates.
