A small update for Android Auto was last released in December. Now there is a new version of the app, but you have to look for new features. A download could still be worthwhile due to bug fixes.
The Android Auto developers held back for a whole month, but now there is another fresh app update. According to my first findings, this does not contain any obvious innovations, but I noticed something in the settings. At least one option was named differently there. However, the functionality remains the same. The option to display the content of new notifications has been renamed.
Still not in sight: Coolwalk surface was not discovered early in the rollout
The changelog for version 7.2 (via Apkmirror) does not offer any new content. The announcements around Android Auto Unfortunately in recent days also included no new features. This ultimately means that we have to wait for the new split-screen interface called Coolwalk.
Version 7.2 could contain various bug fixes that Google has not yet mentioned anywhere. For this reason alone, a download makes perfect sense. The update rollout via the Google Play Store will definitely take place in the coming days.
