Samsung QD-OLED displays pass three SGS certifications

Samsung Display, a display panel maker owned by Samsung Electronics, said on Monday that its latest quantum dot organic light-emitting diode display technology was certified by evaluation service provider SGS. QD-OLED is hailed as the technology that supports next-generation TV picture quality and has obtained three certifications of true color tone, pure RGB brightness and ultra-wide viewing angle in the performance test of SGS in Switzerland.

In a statement, Samsung Display said the certifications support its marketing claim that the tablet panel accurately depicts natural tones and a clear, bright screen at any viewing angle. The week before, Sony announced at CES 2022 that its new 4K-resolution Bravia XR A95K TV for consumers will be the world’s first to use Samsung Display’s QD-OLED panel technology.

Samsung also announced plans to launch 65- and 55-inch QD-OLED TV display panels at CES 2022, with a 34-inch display panel to be released in the next six months.
