Halo Infinite BTB patch development in February update solves cheating problem

The Halo: Infinite development team, 343i, has resumed work after a holiday break. Currently, the studio has announced some future plans, including improvements to the game mode BTB large team battles.

In the announcement, community lead Brian Jarrard said the team at 343i is now essentially back to work. The focus right now is to provide fixes for the BTB issues that have been affecting the game for weeks: As you guys know, we’ve been dealing with some frustrating issues with BTB almost since launch, although trying to fix and mitigate some issues ahead of the holidays, we can’t fix that at the moment, Jarrard said. While BTB is still playable, matchmaking issues will increase as more players and larger fireteams have the chance to successfully join the game.

343i has now formed a task force to work on the BTB issue over the holidays, and the team has now identified a way to address the core issues affecting the mode. The update went into beta last week, and so far, it looks like it’s working, Jarrard said. The update will next enter the certification phase, and if approved for release, it will be released sometime later, 343 has not yet announced a planned release time (ETA) for the update’s release.

The next steps are to continue testing and then move on to the certification process as we prepare to release a hotfix/patch for this issue, Jarrard added: It’s too early to give an ETA, but know that our goal is to be as fast as possible Release it while making sure it doesn’t have any other unintended effects on the current game. It won’t be this week, but we hope it’s not too late, and we’ll share the news as soon as we know the release date.

Also in the announcement, Jarrard identified other aspects of the update that Halo Infinite fans have been dying for, in addition to BTB fixes, including addressing cheating issues. He said the anti-cheat patch will be released in mid-February, but BTB fixes are still the focus for now.
