PUBG has recently become a free game. The game is currently available for free download on the Steam platform, and players do not need to spend around $15 to buy it. According to SteamChart statistics, the game has doubled its peak player count since it was free. The original average was about 300,000 per day, and it reached a peak of 660,000 after free, which is a new high since April 2020.
And according to recent review data on the Steam page, the number of reviews has surged after the game is free. It turned out that there were only a few hundred reviews every day, and the proportion of positive reviews was high; after the free review on January 12, there were more than 8,000 reviews, and the number of negative reviews was significantly more than positive reviews.
Judging from the negative comments of the players, the main reasons are that $15 has become free, as well as more internal and external games and server crashes. The official PUBG Mobile stated that the following problems have occurred, and the development team is urgently repairing them:
- The problem of increased matchmaking delay in some region matchmaking tutorials will be prioritized to deal with the problems of players who are in the queue
- Matching tutorial server crashes increased issues
- Purchased the game before PUBG Free Edition, but the PUBG Deluxe Edition account is still not activated
- The problem is that the game lobby cannot be entered due to too many visitors
