Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard has the industry thinking about the impact on the gaming industry and what actions Microsoft’s competitors will take. Now, according to a person familiar with the matter, Apple may be making its own game console.
Windows Central reporter Jez Corden recently said on the “The Xbox Two” podcast that he has been hearing some rumors from Apple insiders: Apple is preparing to create its own console.
Apple has been “poaching” the engineers who designed the Xbox to initially develop its own specifications for the console. Corden insists that the news has been circulating for a while, but it’s unknown what Apple’s console will look like and whether it will launch, but Apple has definitely made moves.
When asked who else would want to compete with other console makers like Apple and Microsoft, Corden said he thinks the only company that might want to go head-to-head will be the Chinese gaming company Tencent.
Rumors of an Apple console could also be discussed after Microsoft made huge waves with its latest acquisition, and while it’s uncertain whether an Apple console will be launched, competition from gaming companies is a good thing for gamers.
