Google has discontinued another smartphone. The Pixel 4a, which started cheaply, has been difficult to obtain for months anyway. Now there are very few remaining stocks at inflated prices.

But the Pixel 4a will soon be two years old and officially an offshoot. Google has now even removed the mid-range smartphone from its own Google Store. It only shows up on the comparison page.
Google Pixel 4a still has plenty of updates guaranteed
More updates are guaranteed for the Pixel 4a for more than a year. That definitely includes Android 12L this spring and Android 13 next fall. After that, only security updates and feature drops with new functions will probably appear until August 2023.
Unfortunately, the Google Pixel 6a still requires a little patience
For the German market, there is now no more Google cell phones in the middle price range. The Pixel 4a 5G has long been discontinued and the Pixel 5a wasn’t even offered in Europe. Unfortunately, the waiting time for the Pixel 6a is still quite high. The new model will appear in May at the earliest and may not be available until June.
