While popular with many, Google’s Pixel phones have continued to be niche products in recent years. With the Pixel 6 series you want to change that and according to Google, you have already been able to celebrate your first success.
Google celebrates new Pixel record
Sundar Pichai has revealed as part of the business figures that the fourth quarter was a record quarter for pixel smartphones. Despite the chip crisis, a record could be celebrated with the current pixel lineup. Never before have so many Pixel smartphones been sold in one quarter. But how many units were there?
Google still does not give concrete sales figures and the Pixel smartphones are still classified in the “Other” category. Here, sales were 8.2 billion, a growth of 22 percent compared to the previous year. However, Google uses the category for all hardware (and a few other things).
So Google is happy and it’s nice to hear that the new models are selling better than previous generations. The Pixel series will certainly not yet have a significant market share, especially not after a quarter, but it would still be nice if Google would give concrete figures.
