Nintendo Switch is now Nintendo’s most successful console

It has already been hinted at and now it’s official: With 10.67 million units in the fourth quarter, the Nintendo Switch totaled 103.54 million units, replacing the Nintendo Wii with 101.63 million units.

Nintendo has again lowered the forecast for the current fiscal year (ending in March 2022) (to 24 million units, the chip crisis), but that still means that Nintendo will end up at around 108 million Switch units.

Switch units including the Lite version

There are also critics who claim that the Switch Lite is not part of the Switch because it is not a “switch” (switching between TV and mobile). However, Nintendo still counts the numbers and therefore this milestone could be celebrated.

In my opinion, this success is fully deserved, even if every month I wish more and more that we get a “better” Switch. More power and better graphics would definitely be overdue in 2022.

A 4K switch is still on the cards, but the chip crisis and this continued huge success (the OLED switch is said to have gotten off to a good start) also mean that Nintendo is under no pressure and can take its time, relaxed.
