Made by Google: The new Pixel Superfans coloring book is here – here you can paint the smart products

Google is known for sometimes taking unusual paths in marketing and trying strange things – now it’s that time again. Just a few days ago, the Pixel Superfans were sent a coloring book that accidentally leaked the Pixel 6a. If you haven’t received one, you can now call it up on the web and add digital colors to the Google products shown.

Everyone knows coloring books. They are available with all imaginable motifs and enable young and old to let their creativity run free. Now Google has also published such a book, both in paper form and digitally. But of course, we don’t paint funny animals or vehicles, but the Google products in simple environments. The book was obviously designed by the design department because the individual motifs are reminiscent of the typical representations of the products in marketing.

And this is how you can add color to Pixel smartphones, Chromecast dongles, remote controls, smart speakers, smart displays and a few other things. Both the products and the few elements in the background – such as shelves, books, or plants – can be painted. The designers and developers have made sure that everyone gets a really appealing result because you don’t swing the brush or crayon completely alone.

A selected area is automatically filled in up to just before the edges. Dense hatching is used, which can be intensified by several clicks or touches. If you want to fill an area completely, several clicks are necessary. Some of the painting goes beyond the edge, which gives a nice creative effect and is sometimes also used in artistically designed comics.

If desired, the pen or eraser can also be swung, but also not as usual with normal drawing programs. The drawn lines are only faded and you have to press several times over a spot (probably as an analogy to a firm press) to bring about a visible change. But it fits with the rest of the surface and later also with the overall work of art. For the most part, you will probably only use the filling of areas.

The colors available to choose from are very limited and still look quite similar. They are warm, pastel-like tones. So although you have freedom in areas, colors and patterns, you probably have to make a lot of effort to get an ugly result. If you are satisfied with a work of art, you can share it directly. You can do it and maybe one or the other user who wants to repackage the smart Google products in new colors will like it.
