Halo: Infinite is struggling to retain players on Steam after two months of release

The game got off to a solid start, with Microsoft announcing at the end of January that more than 20 million players had played the game. However, many of these players appear to have left the game, and Halo Infinite has very few players on Steam.

It’s been less than two months since Microsoft’s much-anticipated Halo Infinite was released on December 8. At launch, Microsoft called it “the biggest launch in franchise history.”

As of January 25, Halo: Infinite has set a new record, with more than 2 million players already playing the game. Yet on Steam, the world’s largest video game platform, the game’s daily player count paints a very bleak picture.

According to SteamDB, the number of players in “Halo: Infinite” is less than 30,000 per day, a sharp drop from 272,000 when it first launched. In comparison, the average player of the top five games on Steam is between 250,000 and 1 million, and “Halo: Infinite” has already fallen out of the top ten, and even failed to squeeze into the Top 20.

In addition, according to data released by Twitch, “GTA5”, “Fortress Night” and “Apex Heroes” are the most-watched games, with an average of more than 100,000 people, while “Halo: Infinite” has an average of fewer than 10,000 people.
