New Windows 11 features related to energy saving and device recycling are coming

Microsoft is making various improvements for Windows 11, and recently, it was revealed that the company is planning to have a sustainability section in the Settings app. It’s not difficult to figure out the purpose of this new feature. As its name suggests, the Sustainability section will help users optimize energy consumption and provide additional information on recycling equipment.

A screenshot posted on Twitter by @thebookisclosed gives us an early look at the new Settings app, thus revealing that Microsoft will be adding a new eco-advice to help devices conserve energy. There’s also a menu of advanced eco-suggestions to review settings that may have a high impact on users and find more ways to save energy.

As Microsoft recently announced, the company is working on various new features for Windows 11, although that doesn’t necessarily mean it already has a release date.

The same goes for the new sustainability section. Right now, work on this feature is still in the early stages, and no one knows exactly when it should go live. If something doesn’t go according to plan, some of the ideas it’s experimenting with may never get approved.

Microsoft said: “These in-build features and experiences may appear in future versions of Windows when they are ready. In some cases, these concepts will never appear, but with more experimentation, We can better refine the experience and deliver solutions in Windows that really enable our customers to achieve more.”

Microsoft is planning to release a major Windows 11 update later this month, and one of the highlights is a public preview of support for Android apps on the desktop. Additionally, Microsoft will include taskbar improvements and other improvements that will improve the Windows 11 experience across the board.
