As early as 2016, Apple introduced the option of installing a beta on the Mac in addition to the final version of Safari. Once again a new version of the Safari Technology Preview has been released.
The release bears the number 140 and, as usual, is intended to give users a foretaste of the coming changes in the browser.
The new update focuses primarily on performance improvements and bug fixes in the area of the Web Inspector, CSS, Web API, animations, media and many more.
The preview builds on Safari 15.4 and includes all-new features from the macOS Monterey browser. In the release, the non-functioning tab group synchronization is mentioned again in the changelog.
The update is available via the software update function in the system settings. If you haven’t installed the preview yet but would like to try it out, you can get the version for Big Sur or Monterey from the Apple Developer website . As already mentioned, parallel use with the final version of Safari is possible.
