According to the latest report, Pokémon Legends: Arceus ranked first in sales in the United States in January. The game beat Call of Duty: Pioneer last month to become the best-selling game in January, according to data released Friday by research firm NPD Group.
Monster Hunter: Rise ranked No. 3, God of War ranked No. 5. Aside from Pokémon: Arceus, the only new entry in the top 20 was Rainbow Six: Alien at No. 9.
NPD analyst Mat Piscatella said last month’s No. 6 release was “Spider-Man: Miles Morales,” released in 2020, by Sony’s release since 1995. The game’s lifetime dollar sales are second only to Marvel’s Spider-Man and God of War (2018).
The PS5 was No. 1 in both sales and sales last month, while the Xbox Series X/S was No. 2 and the Switch was No. 3. Hardware sales totaled $390 million, the highest January record since $447 million in 2009.
Earlier, Nintendo announced that Pokémon: Arceus sold 6.5 million copies in its first week of release, making it the fastest-selling game on the Switch platform.
