Zoom for macOS finally fixed the microphone bug: some microphones were still active after the call ended. To make matters worse, this isn’t the first time the problem has occurred, and Zoom has fixed it before.
In an update released on December 27, Zoom claims to have fixed the microphone issue, with the log saying: “Fixed an issue with triggering the microphone indicator when not in a meeting”.
However, some macOS Monterey users reported that after installing the update, after a Zoom call ended, the indicator on the taskbar showed that the microphone was still running.
On February 10, a Zoom spokesperson told The Register that they were investigating the matter. A day later, a speaker admitted on the Zoom community forums a bug that would show an orange light after leaving a meeting, phone call or webinar.
The bug was fixed in the Zoom client for macOS version 5.9.3, the person said, adding that everyone should update to this version to apply the fix.
