Epic Games has updated the data relating to registered users on its digital store; according to the latest figures reported by the company, the Epic Games Store now has over 500 million registered accounts.
This is an important milestone, which confirms the continued growth of the store, even if Epic has not revealed further details that could allow us to better understand the actual success of its proposal.
For example, we don’t know how many of these 500 million accounts are active on a monthly basis and what the average spend per user is.
Over the years, in fact, the Epic Games Store has attracted a fair number of players on the occasion of the release of highly popular free titles – we recall, for example, when it gave GTA V, a move that alone brought over 7 million new users, however, it is known that the Epic store is not well regarded by the PC community.
In particular, the community is still very tied to Steam and tends not to look favorably when a game is announced as a temporal exclusive for the Epic Games Store, such as in the case of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and beyond. Epic is therefore working well on the user growth front, but much less in terms of revenues, so it is not clear how long it will still be possible to continue on this path.
