Nintendo announced the new sports game “Nintendo Switch Sports” at a face-to-face meeting earlier in February, and announced that it would hold an online test from February 19th to February 20th, but Nintendo mentioned in a recent article, Test users of Nintendo Switch Sports have been banned from sharing game-related information on social media.
In the article, Nintendo details how to qualify for the Nintendo Switch Sports test, writing in a note: “By registering for the online playtest, you agree not to publicly share information about the online playtest, including in the Share game screenshots or video clips on social media.” However, the article did not detail penalties for violating the agreement.
While nondisclosure agreements like this are common for many games in closed alpha testing, Nintendo Switch Sports’ beta test is available to all Nintendo Switch Online members, making the decision odd. Many popular betas with similar registration restrictions use closed betas as a way to show players the game while also being able to get feedback from a small, controlled sample.
Banning gamers from sharing games on social media could result in Nintendo not getting the feedback it deserves. Nintendo Switch Sports is coming to Nintendo Switch on April 29.
