YouTube may soon add image polls

In October 2021, the YouTube team lowered their claims to be able to publish polls for their audiences with the aim of expanding access to the feature to more content creators.

The platform previously required creators to have at least 1,000 channel subscribers in order to create polls, but as of October 12, it has reduced this threshold to 500 subscribers.

Today, clues were spotted suggesting that YouTube is working on a new feature for community polls that could push creators to use this capability more.

YouTube experiments with image polls

An analysis of the code contained in the APK file related to the beta update of the YouTube app earlier this week includes a new string related to the upcoming feature.

The text contained in the new strings identified by XDA refers to the polls feature in community posts that allows creators to share polls with their audience.

It is currently possible to create text-only polls on the platform, however, the new string suggests that YouTube may be adding support for image polls soon.

The ability to create image polls on YouTube is not active in the current beta, but if it arrives in the stable version in the future, many creators may find it quite useful.

The YouTube team is also working on a new button for YouTube Music, which will become more and more pleasant to use on Android tablets thanks to the new UI.
