According to the latest report, the UBports Foundation has released the Ubuntu Touch OTA-22 system. Many improvements have been brought in, with key features including that video calling is now available in the browser (but not yet an app), and an FM radio program has been added, which will be available in the next version.
For users already running Ubuntu Touch on their mobile device, the update is available through the system settings. UBports is rolling out the update randomly to devices starting today, but not to every user just yet, in preparation for the need for a pause to fix major issues.
There are other improvements in this update: the QQC2 app now follows the system theme, including a dark theme; the lock screen is improved with support for rotation and a prettier panic bar; most devices have WebGL enabled, and the dialer app now supports dial pad autocomplete. Improved sound quality and volume control on Google Pixel 3a or 3a XL phones.
In terms of issues, mainly older devices do not support WebRTC or WebGL, so WebGL is disabled on BQ E4.5/E5, Meizu MX4, Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 2013. Finally, the power management of the Google Pixel 2 and 2 XL is getting better, but consumption is still high.
