To celebrate the opening of Europe’s first Gigafactory, Tesla held a similar event at its Gigafactory in Grunheide, southeast of Berlin, Germany.
Musk confirmed on his personal social media Twitter that the event will take place on April 7. Originally Musk said the event would take place on April 1.
Musk may have quickly realized that it was April Fool’s Day, and to avoid any unnecessary misunderstandings, he postponed the Gigafactory Texas celebration by another six days to avoid any potential confusion.
Last October, Musk hinted that Tesla might host a large outdoor barbecue for fans, enthusiasts and car owners in what could be the largest gathering of Tesla owners in history. In December, Musk confirmed that Tesla would hold the event until early 2022.
The local public can tour the Tesla factory during the event. Tesla’s event at the Berlin Gigafactory opened up a number of new factory facilities to local residents. During the event, Tesla also showed local residents the colors of Tesla’s new car and Model Y electric car parts made in the Berlin Gigafactory.
Tesla’s Berlin Gigafactory is limited to 5,000 people. There is no indication yet how many people will be allowed to attend the event in Texas.
