According to Steam official news, before the launch of Steam Deck, the official released a new tool on the Steam store for players to check the compatibility rating of games they already own.
Officials say that once a user is logged in, the Steam page will show you the compatibility level of each game in your library, and what kind of experience you can get when you run those games on Steam Deck.
Officially, the catalog of compatible games on Steam Deck is huge, and new games are released every day. The official also set up the Steam Deck store home page to display verified games.
After each game is checked, it will be classified according to its compatibility level on the Steam Deck. You can see these categories when browsing your library or shopping for games on Steam Deck. Currently, Steam Deck has four deck compatibility categories: Verified, Playable, Unsupported, and Unknown.
Only games that pass all four of the following are Deck-validated:
Enter
- Games should have full controller support, use the appropriate controller input icons, and automatically bring up the on-screen keyboard when needed.
Show
- The game should support Steam Deck’s default resolution (1280×800 or 1280×720), the default settings are good, and the text is legible.
Seamless experience
- The game should not display any compatibility warnings; if there is a launcher, it should be possible to use the controller.
System Support
- If running through Proton, the game and all its middleware should be supported by Proton, including anti-cheat support.
Finally, it’s official that the Steam Deck team is currently working on a feature that will allow you to check which compatibility category each game in your library falls into before Steam Deck officially launches.
