Stalker 2: Ukrainian studio GSC Game World temporarily pushes development aside

The game Stalker 2 is scheduled to be released in 2022 and will also be included in the Xbox Game Pass right after the launch. The developer GSC Game World, based in Ukraine, is behind the title.

As you can probably imagine, people there currently have very different concerns than video games. The same goes for the GSC Game World team. This is how the studio officially commented on the situation.

A video shows a compilation of clips that are supposed to show the events of the war in the last few days. According to GSC Game World, the work was temporarily put aside.

It is unclear whether this means that they will be completely suspended or will continue in a very limited way. In any case, the focus is on protecting employees and families.

After Ukraine’s victory over Russia, however, the work will continue, the video says. So there is great optimism. It’s hard to think of the game Stalker 2 away from the war. I myself no longer expect it to appear in 2022 as planned and would rather put a question mark on whether it will even come onto the market. But that might also depend on the further course of the war. At the moment, completely different aspects are in the foreground.
