From now on, this Samsung mid-range will receive fewer updates

Samsung is to all intents and purposes a model of behavior regarding software updates in the Android landscape, but of course, not all models are recipients of the same treatment and this is especially true with the increasing months from launch, as in the case of Samsung. Galaxy A71 just switched to semi-annual updates.

Samsung Galaxy A71: How the cadence of updates changes

Just this morning we told you about the detailed presentation of the Security Maintenance Release (SMR) of March 2022 by Samsung and right there, sifting through the official lists of devices currently supported by the manufacturer, a change has emerged: as shown by the screenshot below, Samsung Galaxy A71 has passed in the list of models receiving updates every six months.

Launched on the Italian market at the end of January 2020, Samsung Galaxy A71 has just passed its two-year career, therefore the manufacturer has decided to change its software support: while until now the smartphone had received quarterly updates, from now on will receive new updates less frequently, precisely every six months.

While this variation makes perfect sense, given that Samsung Galaxy A51 – paired with which Galaxy A71 was announced in our country – had made the same leap exactly a month ago. The respective 5G variants, namely Samsung Galaxy A71 5G and Samsung Galaxy A51 5G, still feature in the model list with quarterly updates. The older model Samsung Galaxy A50, absurdly, still receives updates on a monthly basis, however, the different treatment is explained in the light of the inclusion among the Enterprise Models.
