Apple MacBook Air 2022 will use M1 chip and new design

After Yesterday’s Apple conference, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo provided some details on Twitter about the new MacBook Air, which is expected to be released later this year. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the 2022 MacBook Air will have a new form factor and more color options. Previous rumors have suggested that the new MacBook Air won’t feature a tapered design, preferring instead a MacBook Pro-style look.

The MacBook Air 2022 is expected to be thinner, lighter, and likely to have color options similar to the 24-inch iMac, such as blue, green, pink, silver, yellow, orange, and purple. Instead of black, the notebook is also rumored to feature off-white bezels and a matching off-white keyboard.

Kuo said the MacBook Air is expected to feature the M1 chip, which is inconsistent with other previous rumors about the device. Everything we’ve heard about the MacBook Air before says that the device will use the updated M2 chip, with an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU, even in macOS Monterey. It is clear whether this is Guo Mingji’s mistake.

The features of the new iPhone SE predicted by Ming-Chi Kuo on Twitter were basically correct:

  • Ming-Chi Kuo also said that the MacBook Air 2022 will not feature a mini LED display, a feature Apple reserved for higher-end MacBook Pro models.
  • Ming-Chi Kuo said that the new MacBook Air is expected to start mass production at the end of the second quarter of 2022 or the third quarter of this year.
