March’s Xbox update brings new features

Microsoft has announced the new Xbox update for March. Broadly speaking, players are being served three new features, which are pinning to Quick Resume, remapping the Xbox Wireless Controller sharing button, and the new audio setup wizard.

Quick Resume is powered by the technical capabilities of the Xbox Series X|S Xbox Velocity Architecture. It allows you to seamlessly switch between multiple games and instantly resume the game where you left off. With this update, players can now “pin” up to two games in Quick Resume on Xbox Series X|S consoles.

The sharing button can now be customized via the updated accessory app. This unlocks new button mapping actions for Xbox accessories, including reassigning the share button to other actions like muting the TV, opening the friend’s list, opening achievements, and more. Everything that can be done is shown in the accessories app. If I like it, it will probably be the first thing I will do.

There’s also new firmware for controllers. This release includes bug fixes and updates that improve the performance of Xbox One controllers with Bluetooth support, Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, and Xbox Adaptive Controllers.

Last but not least: the new audio setup wizard for HDMI devices, available in Settings under General > Volume & Audio Output > Audio Setup. The Audio Setup Wizard allows users to test and verify their HDMI audio format, test all speakers connected to their Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles, and configure the best possible settings for their A/V setup.
