The play function in the YouTube feed looks set to get pretty annoying in the near future. According to the latest report, the 17.10.35 beta version of YouTube is experiencing a novelty in the various feeds within the app.
Google makes autoplay worse in YouTube feeds
When videos start playing automatically from any of the tracking feeds, the YouTube app darkens the background and introduces controls to mute audio, subtitles, and the ability to skip to the next clip with the option to add the video to the “Watch Later” playlist.
Users can control playback and access other controls through the usual three-dot menu and tapping the video will bring up the full interface.
The change is quite irritating to users who have feed autoplay turned on, as they often end up fast-forwarding a video each time they try to scroll through the list. If nothing else, it is not yet certain that this novelty will officially arrive in the stable version of the app.
