Edge 100 is ready to go: Introducing a lightweight PDF reader to support PWA synchronization

Microsoft is inviting more users to test the Edge 100 version, and the new version has been pushed to Edge Insider users in the Beta channel, which is the last test phase before the stable version is released. After deciding to update Edge every 4 weeks instead of 6, the “major” version has significantly fewer updates, and the Edge 100 version is no exception.

Edge 100 includes only 3 feature improvements

Preview PDF files in Microsoft Outlook and File Explorer

  • Edge users can open a PDF file in a new lightweight and rich read-only preview. It works with PDF attachments in Outlook desktop and local PDF files in the file browser.

Sync web apps across all desktop devices

  • Microsoft Edge is now able to sync PWA apps across all of your desktop devices (assuming you’re signed in with a single account and have sync turned on).

Improved Cloud Site List Management experience for IE Mode

  • Edge now allows session cookie sharing between the main browser and IE mode to be configured in the Microsoft 365 admin center. Microsoft notes that the change is part of a controlled feature rollout that will take a while to reach all Edge users.

Another big change for the Edge 100 is the new three-digit user-agent string. Microsoft and other companies have been testing triple-digit browser versions for some time to make sure websites are working properly and customers have time to make the necessary preparations.
