Apple plans to soon offer the Mac Studio a third-party locking adapter that locks onto the bottom of the computer to physically protect it without damaging or modifying it. There’s a hole in the bottom of the Mac Studio, which some have speculated could be for a Kensington lock.
However, the Kensington lock is large and unlikely to fit under a Mac Studio. Instead, in a memo seen by MacRumors, Apple said it will soon introduce a “lock adapter” that customers can use to keep their Mac Studios “physically secure from tampering and damage.”
In the memo, Apple did not provide details on pricing or availability. For previous trash-can Mac Pros, Apple did something similar, with a $49 lock placed on the side of the computer, preventing it from moving or someone opening the case to access the interior. As YouTuber MKBHD pointed out, it is very difficult to simply and directly get inside Mac Studio with this kind of tool.
