iPad Air 2020 is better than iPad Air 2022 in terms of unibody quality

Some users have complained about workmanship issues with the new iPad Air 5, with the thin sheet of the aluminum casing causing an audible squeak when held. Apple tends to make products as thin as possible while maintaining structural integrity. Amid early online complaints about Apple’s latest tablet, it appears the quest for thinness has created problems.

Citing the earliest report from technology media iMore, some users in the Reddit community said that there were problems with the workmanship of the iPad Air 5. The poster said he ordered 2 blue models and found that the aluminum back was much thinner than the iPad Air 4. “When you hold the device, you can almost feel the battery through the board,” the user added.

The two devices are apparently identical, with the thin panel causing the tablet to “squeak” when held by the user, an effect a friend of theirs also verified. This user isn’t the only one who noticed this phenomenon, others have mentioned the same issue in their posts. One user provided a video demonstrating the same creaking sound.
