Those who expected great things from the first OnePlus smartwatch may have been disappointed with the final result. It has also been revived in the CyberPunk 2077 and Harry Potter-themed collector’s versions, which was not enough to take the bitterness out of the mouth. Nonetheless, Pete Lau’s company is unlikely to have decided to abandon the wearables market. But he may still have decided to change the marketing plans, taking advantage of the success gained by the Nord series.
Not just smartphones: OnePlus Nord will also become a smartwatch
Do you remember when I told you about 2022 full of news at OnePlus, especially with a North theme? Based on leaks and rumors, we know that the company plans to launch practically one novelty per month. Among these, there will not only be phones, but also new wearables: we are talking about a smart band and a smartwatch. And if we previously indicated it as the OnePlus Watch 2, in reality, it would seem that it could be a OnePlus Nord smartwatch.
For now, I will call it OnePlus Nord Watch, but the name has not yet been indicted by the leakers. On the contrary, we know that it will be an inexpensive smartwatch, whose price should be around 5,000 / 8,000 rupees, at an exchange rate between € 60 and € 95. Recall that the main model, the OnePlus Watch, has a cost in India of 14,999 rupees and 159 € in Europe.
We still don’t know what specs and what features will make the OnePlus Nord Watch so cheap, but we do have a clue as to its launch date. The official presentation could take place together with that of OnePlus Nord 3, whose debut is expected during Q2 2022. A presentation that could take place together with that of the TWS OnePlus Nord headphones, thus expanding the ecosystem of the Nord series.
