Elden Ring: Patch 1.03 has improved performance on Xbox

The Elden Ring patch 1.03 proved to be a particularly positive update, for obvious reasons such as the new additions but also for less obvious improvements but detected and analyzed by Digital Foundry, in particular as regards the improved performance on Xbox.

As demonstrated by the first analysis, Elden Ring is a game that is far from convincing optimization in all conditions and this in particular on Xbox. Although, according to some components of Digital Foundry, the best solution among the next-gen consoles is the game on Xbox Series X with VRR applied, or the PS4 version in backward compatibility on PS5, without using VRR on Xbox the title is uncertain in the performance, but the situation seems to have improved significantly with the release of patch 1.03.

Based on the analysis carried out, Elden Ring received a bit further optimization on all platforms, but the most evident result was on Xbox and in particular on Xbox Series X | S, where it achieved an average frame-rate increase. 7% compared to before. This leads to a general improvement of the game that now approaches the performance of the PS5, which still generally remains more stable even if the difference has narrowed.

In particular, the increase in average frame-rate leads to a further improvement even with the use of VRR, since even the cases in which the dips went out of the control range of the technology in question have now been corrected to return a much smoother experience.

For the rest, the Digital Foundry video goes on to talk about AMD FSR 2.0, the problems of the Gran Turismo 7 online, the release of DirectStorage by Microsoft, Steam Deck and much more.
