God of War turns 17: Santa Monica Studio warmly thanks the fans

While fans eagerly await the new episode, the God of War series is celebrating 17 years since its original debut. It was in fact March 22, 2005, when the progenitor debuted on PlayStation 2, obtaining enormous acclaim from critics and audiences and immediately becoming one of the most symbolic titles of the console.

The American players made the first acquaintance of Kratos, brutal and tormented Spartan warrior in the service of the Gods of Olympus, in his first adventure that would have led him to clash with Ares, the God of War. Europe had to wait a little longer, until July 8 of the same year, before enjoying the brilliant Sony exclusive work that marked the beginning of one of the most beloved franchises ever on PlayStation.

Santa Monica Studio wanted to mark the anniversary with a post on Twitter, thanking the players for their support all these years, underlining that ” we couldn’t have done it without you”. Attached to the post, is a summary image of the original Greek saga carried out until 2013, the year in which the God of War Ascension prequel debuted on PS3. In 2018 a new course for the brand begins, with the soft-reboot arrived on PS4 which marked the beginning of the Norse saga of Kratos, destined to end with the highly anticipated God of War Ragnarok.

It is not yet clear when the game will make its debut on the market, in any case, God of War Ragnarok is confirmed for 2022: it remains only to discover a precise date. A South American retailer had placed God of War Ragnarok due out in June 2022, but until the authors officially express themselves we must take any information with a grain of salt.

In the meantime, the anniversary can be celebrated, perhaps replaying the 2005 adventure.
