Analyst: iPhone 16/Pro will be the fastest with under-screen Face ID and iPhone 15/Pro will fully adopt pill + single-hole screen

According to the latest reports, The Elec reported earlier today that Apple will launch an under-screen Face ID sensor on the 2023 iPhone 15 Pro. DSCC analyst Ross Young countered the report, saying the technology could land on the iPhone 16/Pro series as early as possible.

Rumors of under-screen Face ID have been floating around the web for some time. Taking the iPhone 14 Pro as an example, Apple will be able to add some sensors under the display and change the notch to a pill + single punch.

Then, for the iPhone 15 lineup, The Elec reports that Apple will use Samsung Display technology to hide the Face ID sensor under the display of the next-generation iPhones. TheElec has learned that Samsung Display is currently developing a new under-panel camera technology for its client Apple to hide Face ID under the display in the next-generation iPhone.

According to sources, Samsung Display’s technology is expected to be first applied to Samsung Electronics’ foldable phone next year, and then to the Pro version of the iPhone 15 series. On the other hand, DSCC’s future iPhone roadmap shows that Apple will offer a different solution for the iPhone 15 series, expanding the pill + single punch hole to all models, while the 2024 iPhone 16 series may finally see the under-screen Face for the first time ID technology.

That said, while testing should begin as early as 2022, don’t expect under-screen Face ID to land on iPhones before 2024.
