Signs of Windows 11 23H2 Copper and Sun Valley 3 (SV3) have emerged

While the current Windows 11 Dev Channel is preparing for the arrival of the Windows 11 22H2 (codenamed “Sun Valley 2”) feature update, the Microsoft development team is already working on the next 23H2 Sun Valley 3 (SV3) release. References to SV3 have started to emerge.

The first evidence was found in the appraiser’s DLL file in the latest Windows Server build 25075, released about a week ago. As you can see in the image below, there seems to be some explicit mention of Windows 11 23H2 being called the Copper (CU) build, while the first line of words clearly states that the current build in the Windows Insider Dev channel is codenamed Nickel ( NI), which is 22H2.

After this, a second detail emerged when Microsoft aired its Windows Insider Program (WIP) Webcast earlier today, with the live show showing off some of the latest Windows 11 features. As you can see in the image below, there is a note “SV3 Refined Investments Next Step” that appears in the PowerPoint Live section on the Team Shared Contents menu.

SV3 is probably the abbreviation of Sun Valley 3. Interestingly, Microsoft also mentioned SV2 recently, but the company quickly deleted it and updated the page, and it seems that it is reluctant to mention the acronym SV externally.
