Apple Maps brings enhanced experiences to areas like Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal, Canada

With a recent update, Apple has begun to bring a new map experience to select cities in Canada. Recall that when iOS 15 was officially released, the company announced that it would bring some new features to Apple Maps, such as 3D landmarks, a refreshed 3D view, and an improved walking experience.

The first regions to receive the enhanced experience include London in the United Kingdom, Los Angeles in the United States, New York in the United States, and the San Francisco Bay Area.

As promised, Apple has begun rolling out the new feature in select Canadian cities on Thursday, including Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal. As for new 3D landmarks, they include Montreal’s Biosphere, Toronto City Hall, and Vancouver’s BC Plaza Stadium.

In addition to 3D landmarks, Apple Maps can now help pedestrians better plan their walking routes, complemented by a more robust transportation map experience. It is worth mentioning the Curated Guides, which provides 2000+ professional plans, covering many well-known local brands (such as Toronto Life and Narcity), as well as global resources such as Lonelty Planet.

In terms of cycling, the updated driving directions have also been adjusted, and now clearly show the turning lanes, center barriers, and bus/taxi/crosswalks. In addition, when approaching a complex overpass, the map can also remind the switch exit ahead in time.

Finally, the above features are now available to all Apple Maps users on iOS 15, macOS Monterey, and watchOS 8 since the new experience debuted in Philadelphia in December 2021.
