Tesla’s Avatar? Musk says users can upload personalities to robots

Elon Musk can be said to have high hopes for the future of humanoid robots. During a recent meeting with Axel Springer Group CEO Matthias Doffner at Tesla’s factory in Fremont, California, Musk shared his thoughts on humanoid robots.

Musk believes that it may one day be possible for people to upload their own brain functions to humanoid robots, both in terms of personality and memory. Musk also talked about the robot’s bipedal design. He claims that humans make the world, so if you want a robot to adapt and do what a human can do, it has to have a human-like design.

During the meeting, Musk talked about the humanoid robot Tesla is building, Optimus, and its potential future uses. Musk said: “Optimus is a general-purpose robot, similar to an industrial robot, and its initial jobs will be repetitive, boring or dangerous jobs, usually those that people don’t want to do. In addition, it will appear in people’s in everyday life.”

At an internal AI event in August 2021, he showed off a “Tesla robot” for the first time. In January, Musk said the Optimus would be Tesla’s most important product this year, and that it could be in moderate mass production around the end of 2023.
