Chris McKillop, director of engineering for Google’s Fuchsia project, announces he has left the company

Since 2016, Google has invested in the development of a new operating system called “Fuchsia”. But it didn’t debut on the original Nest Hub smart display until last year. For a long time, the Fuchsia project has been led by engineering director Chris McKillop. However, the latest news is that it has announced its departure from Google.

Perhaps with the smooth release of Fuchsia and embarked on a brighter path, McKillop finally chose to leave Google after more than ten years of work. It is known that in addition to the Fuchsia project, McKillop also helped shape the Flutter team (long-term close relationship with Fuchsia), and briefly participated in the Android TV team.

In his latest tweet, he said:

Seven years ago, we started Fuchsia at Google, formed the team, and released F1 → F4.1.2.

After this amazing journey, I can’t wait to see what’s next for Fuchsia.

It is reported that before joining Google, as one of the founding team members, McKillop also participated in Palm’s webOS project. Earlier, he also participated in the construction of the first version of the iPhone OS, which is called “Purple” internally.

So as one of the core inspirations for Google Fuchsia, we’re not surprised it has a subtle connection to Apple’s “Pink” operating system in the late 1980s.
