Destiny 2 community video suffers malicious removal, Bungie will sue mass tipster

Last week, a group of anonymous whistleblowers went on a frantic whistleblower campaign on YouTube’s Destiny 2 community, resulting in the removal of a large amount of Destiny 2 community content. Game developer Bungie issued a statement immediately after the incident. These videos were disturbed by the DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act), but were not officially deleted by the game, and will continue to investigate.

Bungie recently announced that it has prosecuted these malicious whistleblowers, and these deleted videos have caused significant damage to the studio’s reputation and economy. In addition, Bungie’s lawsuit also expresses dissatisfaction with YouTube’s reporting system, which is too easily exploited due to loopholes in YouTube’s DMCA process security, which is also the main reason for the “malicious deletion” incident.

In other words, as far as YouTube is concerned, anyone, anywhere in the world, can issue a takedown notice on behalf of the copyright holder. Currently, Bungie is seeking financial damages, including an increase in statutory damages of $150,000 for each fraudulent takedown notice that knowingly infringes Bungie’s copyright. Bungie said it was also difficult to recover the videos, which had to be resolved by contacting layers of YouTube staff.
