Android: Update for the smart file manager Google Files, Pixel users get new Share tab

The smart file manager Google Files offers three core functions that have become a bit different over time as independent areas within the app. One of these functions is the sharing of files with other users, which after a slightly longer break should now move back into the focus of the users of the Pixel smartphones through a new tab in the navigation.

A few years ago, Google Files introduced the ability to share files directly with other users. For this purpose, a connection between the two smartphones had to be established so that the files could be sent. One user was the sender, the other receiver. The process was very simple and went quickly, but was still removed some time ago on the Pixel smartphones.

Now, in the current beta of the Files app for the Pixel smartphones, a tab design has reappeared that puts content sharing in the spotlight. Sharing is one of three tabs and thus again one of the three main functions. Nearby Share will continue to be used, which has been integrated into the Files app a little deeper than before. The range of functions has not changed, but apparently, the sharing network needs a little more attention.

On all other smartphones apart from the Pixel series, the tab is said to have been present for a long time.
