Similar to Apple’s AirDrop, Google’s Nearby Share allows you to share files with other nearby devices using Bluetooth and Wi-Fi even offline.
Currently, the user receiving the file must approve the sharing request for security reasons, but soon it will be possible to quickly share files by skipping this step.
Nearby Share will soon allow you to share files without requiring approval
When sharing files between your devices, having to approve the request each time slows down the sharing experience, but soon Nearby Share will allow you to quickly share files between devices enrolled in the same Google accounts without having to approve the sharing.
According to Mishaal Rahman via Twitter, the “Self Share” mode in the “Device Visibility” section within the Nearby Share settings will show the new “Your Devices” option. Selecting it will automatically download the files to the target device without needing to approve the transfer.
The new “Self Share” mode of Nearby Share is present in the latest version of Google Play Services, but it is not yet accessible to the public.
This feature first surfaced in January, but at the moment we don’t know when Google plans to roll it out to all users.
