Instagram: All users can tag products in their posts

According to CNET, just as users can tag other accounts when posting on Instagram, users can now tag products as well. The company said Monday that the product tagging feature, which was previously limited to corporate and creator accounts, is now available to all Instagram users with public accounts.

To label a product, the user must first mark the brand of the product. Click new product options at the bottom. Click on the photo, and then the user can search for the product based on its description. Once a user has flagged a product in a post, people can click on the tag, see the product details, and buy it. Instagram says it’s also developing ways for users to tag products in Stories.

Instagram parent company Meta has been working for a year to bring a strong e-commerce marketplace to social media platforms, and the expansion of the feature is part of it. Instagram has rolled out a number of features to bring shopping to its platform, including Checkout and Facebook’s Shops tool.

“From supporting brands you like to helping your friends and family discover new products they might like, it’s easier to share products on Instagram,” Instagram said in its announcement.

ACCORDING TO A CNBC REPORT, THE SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM REACHED 2 BILLION MONTHLY ACTIVE USERS IN THE FALL OF 2021.
