Samsung Internet 17.0: Beta supports web authentication

Samsung gives the latest beta version 17.0 of the in-house Samsung Internet browser the possibility of web authentication. This is based on the common standard WebAuthN.

Behind the scenes, this has probably been tested for some time, now they start into the beta phase. The distribution should then also start next month with the planned, stable version 17.0.

You can get the beta as usual via the Google Play Store. Samsung Internet is – even outside of Samsung’s smartphones – a popular alternative to Chrome and Firefox on Android devices.

Samsung supports the use of security keys for WebAuthN via USB, NFC, Bluetooth, as well as for device-internal keys. Examples are shown here for access to GitHub:
