Elden Ring: How many regions are there in the interregnum?

Elden Ring is a work of enormous scope, with hundreds of hours of content and a vast map to explore. The Interregnum is in fact composed of many unique and complex locations, different from each other and, at times, even secret. How many regions are there in all?

Considering how the game defines the regions directly on the map, we can count 5 of the main ones: Sepolcride, Caelid, Liurnia, the Plateau of Altus and the Peaks of the Giants. However, to these must be added the underground parts of the Interregnum, and in particular, the two rivers that flow in the depths of the earth: Ansel and Siofra.

As an extra, some places are particularly extensive and interesting that they can be seen as separate locations. The Abyss between the roots is a good example, as are a couple of ‘out of this world’ Legacy Dungeons, the Sacred Tree of Miquella and shattered Farum Azula (here’s how to find Farum Azula’s secret boss in Elden Ring).

In any case, the real regions remain those mentioned above. These are vast areas that represent the open world of Elden Ring, diversified by climate, fauna, flora and of course creatures to face. Some of these, then, are characterized by an original element that conditions the aesthetics, such as the magic for Liurnia or the rampant rotting in Caelid.
