Google Chrome adds a handy shortcut on Android

The Google Chrome developer team is rather cautious regarding the introduction of changes to the interface of this web browser and, especially for the huge audience of users who rely on this solution.

From time to time, however, also on Google Chrome some changes are implemented at the interface level and an example is the version of the browser intended for Android-based devices, which is enriched with a shortcut in the customizable toolbar.

Here comes a new shortcut in Google Chrome

On Android the Google Chrome interface is based on the presence of a toolbar with the Home button, the address bar, the tab selector and the overflow menu (with a list containing many actions).

Well, it seems that the Mountain View giant has expanded the audience of users for which there is a new shortcut in the toolbar between the address bar and the tab counter icon, in which one of the following three can be displayed actions:

  • Opening a new tab (plus sign)
  • Sharing a page (share icon)
  • Voice search (microphone icon)

By default, the button that users will see is chosen by the system based on their usage habits. Users, however, can manually select which shortcut they want to view and even disable adding the toolbar from the Google Chrome settings (by going to the Advanced section).

It is also possible to manually enable it with this flag:

chrome://flags/#adaptive-button-in-top-toolbar-customization

The first appearances of this new feature date back to last year with version 92 of the browser but in recent days the reports relating to its availability have become increasingly numerous. To date, however, the Google Chrome team has not yet officially announced that it has released it for everyone.
