Pixel 6/Pixel 6 Pro: Users report problems with the display, can no longer be switched on

For many users of the Pixel 6 smartphones, joy and sorrow are very close together: very soon, the owners of the Pro smartphones should be able to look forward to the new face recognition, while some others are already struggling with a new problem: This time it’s about that Display that can no longer be switched on and can therefore also cause very annoying problems.

Pixel 6 smartphone users have had a lot of problems over the past few months, fortunately, the low point was reached earlier in the year and things have been going up since then. Unforgotten is the problems with mobile phone reception, some of which lasted for more than two months and were not addressed by Google with a fix or with transparent communication. But it’s the same as with any pixel bug: Some users take everything with them and others only know all the problems from the media.

It is difficult to say how the following bug will behave: In the last few days, more and more users have reported that the Pixel 6 display can no longer be switched on. This is reflected in the fact that you want to get the smartphone out of standby as usual, but the display remains black. About various functions, it should be noted that the smartphone is active and theoretically doing something, but the display simply does not want to turn on. Repeated attempts and longer breaks do not help.

The only thing that helps out of the jam is holding down the power button for a long time, which restarts the smartphone. Then everything works perfectly again. For some users, this bug only appeared once, for others for several days. Because the problem is still quite young, it could be that some people will only notice it several times in the next few days.

There are reports from both American users and, of course, from AndroidPolice founder Artem Russakovskii, who feels affected by every problem. But also in Germany, among others, a golem author reports that he was affected once. A cause could not be found so far and Google has not yet spoken. However, it is not to be expected that the problem will be fixed by tonight’s security update, which will hopefully arrive on the Pixel 6 smartphones again on time.

The problem is annoying, but luckily it’s easily solved by restarting. What you should note, however, is that by default, tapping the power button five times dials the emergency call on the Pixel. It is quite possible that some users accidentally dial the emergency call, but do not even notice it. If this happens to you, you can talk to the emergency call center and hopefully clarify the matter quickly, but you cannot end the call yourself due to the lack of a display. The emergency call centers should also hope for a quick fix…
