When it comes to smartphones, especially top of the range such as Xiaomi 12 Pro and OnePlus 10 Pro, an often overlooked but not unimportant element is resistance. Also because, let’s face it, buying a phone worth several hundred euros and seeing it smash at the first fall is something we all try not to think about.
But being the object that we probably handle the most every day, it can happen that it goes into bumps and falls. Unfortunately, the resistance of a phone is very circumstantial: dropping two identical phones from the same height does not mean that they both resist equally. But thanks to the JerryRigEverything tests we can get an idea of which are the toughest.
The endurance tests compare Xiaomi 12 Pro and OnePlus 10 Pro: Which is the toughest?
You may remember that, of the two aforementioned smartphones, the OnePlus 10 Pro has already passed under the clutches of JerryRigEverything. And the result was by no means the best, as demonstrated by what happened at the OnePlus flagship. As for Xiaomi, the company has improved over time, going from “folding” models (and in the sense, you might imagine) to much more resistant products. Like the last Xiaomi Mi 11, whose endurance test by Jerry proved to live up to expectations: will it be the same for Xiaomi 12 Pro?
Starting from the resistance of the screen, Xiaomi 12 Pro and the OnePlus 10 Pro are practically equivalent, as well as the vast majority of today’s smartphones. Both protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, the display starts to scratch at level 6 on the Mohs scale, with results more noticeable on level 7. The same is true for the metal side frame, while the resistance to liquids and dust changes (on the card), since only Xiaomi 12 Pro is IP68 certified.
Thus we arrive at the infamous bend test , that is the test in which the smartphone is forced to bend to see what happens: in the worst case, the smartphone breaks, just as happened to OnePlus 10 Pro. Fortunately for Xiaomi 12 Pro, its result it is more positive, although a minimum of bending is noticeable.
